Obituary: Laury Reynolds
by Elain Harwood
One of the Society’s early members, Laury Reynolds, has died aged 96. He and his wife Davina were regular attenders of lectures and visits, and he came on a Nottingham weekend trip aged 90. He was known to many of us as the Treasurer of the Cinema Theatre Association, for whom his gift for languages was a tremendous asset when it organised trips to Madrid and Lisbon. Laury was a great enthusiast of film, music and the decorative arts of the 1930s. An excellent obituary by his daughter Sally appeared in the Guardian and can be found online: I never knew that he had been a physicist, and had worked on the design of Dungeness Lighthouse, that great modern reinterpretation of one of the most traditional of building types.
