Book launch – The Simple Heart of Plywood

Saturday 9th June, 14:30-17:00

The Simple Heart of Plywood explores the plywood furniture produced by Makers of Simple Furniture, a company founded by Gerald Summers and his wife Marjorie in 1931.

Their work was based wholly on the potential of plywood, and their catalogues feature furniture ranging from hand-cut, dove-tail jointed cabinets to armchairs formed from a single sheet. They designed desk tidies to complete interior design projects and everything in between.

Join C20 Yorkshire for a collaborative event at Janette Ray’s bookshop at 8 Bootham, York and enjoy wine and nibbles with authors Abel Sloane and Ruby Woodhouse of ‘1934’. Hear about the book and purchase a signed copy at this free event, just let us know you’ll be attending via Facebook (or by contacting the shop).
