Charles Anderson's concrete mural at Rainbow Slides Pool, Stirling

Murals

32 Charles Anderson, Concrete mural, 1973

Status: Unlisted
Condition: Poor/damaged condition
Type: Concrete
Owners: Unknown
Location: Rainbow Slides Pool (The Provost's Pool), Stirling

Anderson’s semi-abstract mural at the entrance of the swimming pool is a powerful and attractive artwork made of precast concrete panels. Similar in shape to the Burnley Thompson Centre mural, it demonstrates the impact such artwork can have on a bare and functional construction. The Glasgow School of Art graduate Anderson has successfully worked for 30 years as a muralist, carrying major commissions for local authorities and large companies.

The Rainbow Slides Pool is now closed and for sale. The future of the mural is uncertain but the society is fighting to have it relocated.
