Situated in the entrance foyer of John Madin’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry building, Piper’s colourful abstract mural, specially commissioned for the building, is one of the few murals of this type and size he created and according to Pevsner is suggestive of an urban landscape. The building and mural have been under threat for some years with a Certificate of Immunity from listing having been in place since 2016. More recently proposals to adapt and renovate the building and retain the mural in-situ have emerged.
