The large Geoffrey Clarke abstract mosaic at Market Square spans the height of three storeys above a parade of shops. It was designed by Clarke who initially created a painting which was then translated into the mosaic by his wife, Ethelwynne Tyrer, who pieced the glass tesserae together at their home, Stowe Hill in Suffolk. Following a planning application to demolish and redevelop the site, C20 Society submitted an unsuccessful listing application. Consent for redevelopment was given in 2021 with a condition that the mural be preserved and relocated with public access.
