Events: April and May 2015

The C20 West Midlands Group invites all C20 members and their friends to join us for the following events:

25 April – Beer and Cider Festival: St Thomas More Catholic Church, Horse Shoes Lane, Sheldon, Birmingham
A chance to view the Grade II-listed church (1968-69) designed by Adrian Gilbert Scott, with windows by John Chrestien. A talk on the restoration of concrete structures by structural engineer and C20 casework committee member Stuart Tappin. (Oh, and some cider and beer from Brummie breweries!)

29 April – Happy Housing: Otto Neurath’s Vision for Post-war Modern Living in Bilston, West Midlands
Guided curator’s tour of the exhibition, stroll around the estate, pub supper.
Time 5.30pm for 5.45pm – prompt start. Finish 9.30/10pm.
Cost: Approx £5 for late-night opening, own supper costs and transport.

29 May (tbc) – Lucas Research Centre (now TRW Conekt), Stratford Rd, Solihull.
Guided tour around this ex-motor parts manufacturer’s research centre, built in 1965 in Solihull, to a design by Clifford, Tee and Gale, allegedly with landscaping by Sylvia Crowe, and murals by Bill Mitchell. Attempted listing in 2011 turned down.
Time: 3-5pm
Cost: free
Transport: own. Parking available
