News from C20 South West Group

The ongoing story from the South West is the plight of High Cross House at Dartington. The house completed in 1932 was designed by Swiss American architect William Lescaze for the first headmaster of Dartington Hall School.

There was a public meeting in early July where people were invited to submit ideas to help find a new role for this important building and stabilise the decay and plan renovations. The Dartington Trust presented a report they had commissioned which estimated costs for repairs amount to approximately £250,000.00.  Catherine Croft, director of The Twentieth Century Society came to the meeting which was lively and interesting. Information about this has been posted on our SW Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ groups/FarSWC20Soc/. To follow this and find out further information please ask to join our group.

We have since received another invitation from Rhodri Samuel, CEO of The Dartington Trust to forward any further ideas by August 12th.
