Programme – C20 Society SW Group AGM, meeting and visit Truro 22 October 2016
12.15pm AGM in the Trelawney Room, County Hall, Truro
The two principal reports (Chairman’s and Treasurer’s) will be made available in
advance, with the Agenda, to ensure that the AGM is a short event. The Committee
would welcome new recruits from C20 Society members.

1.00pm Talks and visits: to County Hall and other C20 buildings of interest in
Truro

Kerridge, in the Trelawney Room
Peter Beacham ‘Reflections on Revising Pevsner’s Cornwall’; to include
thoughts on potential listing priorities
Peter Beacham is the co-author of Buildings of England: Cornwall, 2014
Jerome Tait ‘Protecting Cornwall’s C20 Architecture: Past, Present and
Future’
Jerome Tait is Designation Adviser South West for Historic England
2.15pm Opportunity to visit key areas of County Hall, lead by Paul Perry, of
PWBC, St Ives
Paul Perry is the architect retained by Cornwall Council with respect to the
building, and responsible for recent renovation work
3.00pm Visits to other buildings of interest in Truro.
John Stengelhofen will lead this walking tour. The visits will include the Courts of
Justice, by Evans & Shalev; and other buildings of interest in the town centre: and
possibly John Taylor’s Redannick Estate, off Chapel Hill, from the 1950s.
4.15-4.30pm Break for tea/coffee at the Gallery Café, Lemon Street Market
5.00-6.00pm A visit Alverton Court, 1963, by John Taylor, including one interior view.
Notes will be available to all attendees, and we may be able to offer places in cars for
those travelling to Truro by public transport.
