Extended by H. Munro Cautley in 1955 and by Terry Norton (Wearing, Hastings & Norton) in 1992-93.
Contains much glass by cousins Margaret Agnes Rope (a Carmelite Nun) and Margaret Edith Aldrich Rope and fittings by other Rope family members and is a memorial to Margaret Agnes’s cousin Squadron Leader Michael Rope who partly designed and died in the R101 airship when it crashed in 1930 – church also contains metal and other remains from the airship and a model of it is suspended from the ceiling; also contains some glass by Margaret Agnes Rope from the former East Bergholt Convent founded by English Benedictine nuns.
