South

A tour of inter-war Sidlesham, 13th January

Sidlesham 1930’s Land Settlement Association (LSA) Estate and Sidlesham School (the UK’s first prefabricated school)

Saturday 13th January 2018, 10.30am  – 3.30pm

C20 Southern will receive a talk on the work of the LSA, and will be shown a selection of historic films by Dr Bill Martin. Sidlesham was the largest of the LSA estates, having 129 units.

Dr Martin has been instrumental in setting up a Heritage Trail around the village and is also helping the Weald & Downland Museum to dismantle one of the houses to be installed in the Museum.

After lunch we will take a walk (or drive if the weather is inclement) around a part of the trail. This will include the school (internal access currently being sought).

Please contact paulinemousley@btinternet.com if you are interested in attending. Transport and lunch arrangements to be agreed.
