Brutiful Campaign Group fight on for Madin’s Library

Members may recall that back in January 2015 a wake was held for John Madin’s Birmingham Central Library.  However, months have passed with no sign of the structural  demolition beginning, and it seems unlikely to do so in the next few months. In the meantime, the Certificate of Immunity from listing runs out on the 10 Jan 2016 and a new application for listing has already been submitted.

An Action Group has been formed to raise the profile of the campaign, lobby the Government and Local Councillors. The group is calling for a moratorium on the planned demolition and an independent review to be commissioned to examine the costs and benefits to the city. Alan Clawley, who has been campaigning to save the Library since 2002, is publishing ‘The Library Story’, which will be launched on the 18th December, and tells the story of the protracted campaign.
