C20 South West News

Since our inception we have looked at how we can communicate and involve our members in the regional group. We have set up a Facebook Page and a bi monthly e-newsletter. Although both of these are excellent ways of keeping in touch with both members and others interested in the architectural heritage in our area we felt there was a need for something more solid. We decided to build a web site where we could have a database of buildings of interest, campaign news, national news, as well as promoting the C20 Society and our local activities.

The basic web site has now been developed and is on line. We will be launching it to the members before Christmas and ask them for content. We are hoping this will be a useful resource for both the region and nationally.

We will be monitoring it’s use over the next year and promoting it to sympathetic organisations in the region.

The initial very basic site is now available to view and we would appreciate any comments from the membership via the “contact” page.

In other news we have been contacted by the University Of Westminster Architecture Department. They were touring the South West with a group of 3rd year students. They were particularly interested in a tour of Plymouth looking at the post war reconstruction. We planned a walking tour with back up notes. Unfortunately the tour coincided with an amber weather warning but despite the rain it was a success with lunch in the wonderful market and tea in the Theatre Royal. It would be good to look at how we could further liaise and work with students, if any other regions have experience of working with students in any way it would be good to hear about it.
