The County Hall was built in 1960-3 at Aykley Heads, a hill north of the city centre. The mural sits exquisitely in its post war setting, with the slightly more futuristic mosaic panels beneath the windows adding a satisfying contrast to the historical references in the mural. Both building and mural are threatened by demolition proposed for 2027.
