Located In the Grade II listed Dining Hall at Sayers Croft, a World War II evacuee camp for children, the two murals were designed by an art master Arthur Evens with the assistance of two pupils, Len Davies and Walter Silcox, and were executed by the senior boys of the Catford Central School art class. They depict winter and summer life at the school during World War II.

After the war the camp continued to provide opportunities for city children to experience the countryside and it still gives many urban children their first rural encounter.

The murals are also designated as war memorials and were restored in 2003.
