Harry Page Photo Competition seeks volunteer

In January the 2015 Harry Page photo competition trophy was awarded to Angus Hamilton for his stunning photograph of Central Hall at  the University of York. Judge Tim McCoy-Page said:

“I think the photograph is beguiling. Benthecat (aka Angus Hamilton) has diligently and patiently put together a shot with amazing light, rich contrast and precise composure to highlight the unique angular style of the building against the more serene surroundings of nature. The soft reflection in the water cleverly adds to the contrast of the slightly harsh nature of the building.”

Other images he singled out were photos of the Whitworth Gallery and the Reichstag Berlin: “a great effort with an abstract vision, and unusual composition which always captures my imagination” by gostinthemachine, as well as photos by mousley, deshill, and Dr A J Holmes. The competition is going from strength to strength and we are now looking for a volunteer to help us launch the 2016 competition and manage the Harry Page competition Flickr site. We are looking for a keen photographer who would be happy to spend an hour or so each week administering the competition’s Flickr page, checking that posts are appropriate, putting up occasional news stories and encouraging other users to enter the competition. It needs someone who is well organised, used to Flickr and happy to liaise with the C20 office and the competition judges. When the competition is launched we would ask the volunteer to check the rules and deadlines for the prize and during judging to liaise with the judges and the eventual winner – and, of course, to attend the prize presentation at our January Members’ Own Travels photo evening!
