In 1994, it was described by Historic Buildings and Monuments as “a very assertive building – dramatic in its impact, exhibiting a range of modernist features in a well worked out scheme”. The five storey tiled mural which reaches the full height of the building depicts the industries of Northern Ireland: a ship, cranes, a factory and a plane and, at its base, lines of workers.
