I pass on a link to English Heritage’s latest Designation Yearbook. It has some really nice new listings in it. In the North West EH has listed William Mitchell’s Three Totems sculptural columns at Salford University – much loved by the Modernists – as well as Lowry’s home in Mottram and the former underground air-raid shelters beneath Deansgate, Manchester. You can visit them on Ed Glinert’s excellent Underground Manchester walk (Although these are suspended just now for building work).
