Two Events in Manchester

Carol Hardie forwards  news of an interesting event at Manchester Metropolitan University Library’s  Special Collections, All Saints, Manchester, on Friday, March 7 in the morning.  It’s about C20 women designers, artists and  writers. I guess that the talk about folk art collectors by  Desdemona McCannon will mention my heroine Enid Marx (‘Marco’) and her  partner Margaret Lambert: see Compton Verney.org.uk.
Peggy Angus and Puffin books’ illustrators will also be discussed. It all sounds rather a  treat.
Chapbooks by contemporary  women artists will be given away. It’s free but you have to  book in advance. It says that more details are on Facebook. If you’re not on  Facebook I daresay that a nicely penned postcard might do the trick. Your PA  could phone up for you too.
While I’m in C20 design  mode let me remind those of you who enjoy C20 and earlier textiles and fashion  that the excellent Manchester Antique Textile Fair will be held on Sunday, March 2  from 10am to 4.30pm, at the Armitage Centre (Sports Hall), Fallowfield,  Manchester. This year the theme of talks will explore Eastern European and  Russian textiles. Admission is £5 (concessions £4). More details at http://www.textilesociety.org.uk/
