France: Mémorial de Verdun

Location: nr. Verdun, France

Dedicated to the soldiers of both sides who fought and died here in response to the rapprochement between France and Germany and intended to explain what happened at Verdun to present and future generations, this memorial museum was proposed in 1960 and inaugurated in 1967. The architect was Charles Legrange.
